The English Translation: "Here lies William Burgh, esq. a founder of this chantry who died on the seventh day of august | in the year of our Lord 1492, on whose soul God have mercy And pray for the good health of Elizabeth his wife. " (Translated by Bard Swallow) Notes on the Parchment: "Catterick Wm Burgh 1492" Description of Rubbing: There are three pieces to this rubbing. William is on the left. He is standing facing the right with his hands in prayer. He is in full armor with no helmet on. His hair was straight and was to his shoulders. His armor has palettes, rerebraces, gauntlets, cuirass, taces, gorget, bainbergs, baldric (the sword was behind him towards the left), rowel spurs and rounded Sabatons. He is standing on a mound of dirt or grass at his feet. There are a lot of crosshatch details. Elizabeth is on the right and is facing the left. Her hands are in prayer. She has a patterned headdress past her shoulders. The dress has a square neckline and large defined wrist cuffs. She has a belt that goes down her right side. Her dress has some folds and pleats but most are down at the bottom of the dress. Her feet are not showing and she has some crosshatching. Underneath both figures is two lines of Latin.
