<text>Notes on the Parchment: "Wm Thoresby 1611"

Description of Rubbing: The parchment has the same brass rubbing twice just across from each other and sideways. Looking at the rubbing section with the depiction facing upwards there are four elements.

The large element on the left is a male facing the right. He is kneeling with his hands in prayer. He is wearing a small cartwheel ruff. His hair is cut close to his head. He is wearing a robe with sleeves that are close to his arms. It is open down the front, it has folds and pleats. He is very detailed with cross hatching.

The top middle element is Henry Thoresby's coat of arms. It is split into 5 distinct areas. There are four equal sections with the top two and bottom two separated by a zig zag pattern.

The top left section is 2 griffons, the top right is a birds and the bottom left is 1 griffon with the bottom right being 1 bird. The bottom middle section is a table with a cloth on it holding 2 books that are open and facing the large characters. It has lots of cross hatching.

The large element on the right is a female facing the left. She is kneeling and her hands are in prayer. She also has a cartwheel ruff. Her hair is on the top of her head. Her dress has a collar and sleeves tight to her arms. There are pleats and folds throughout and lots of cross hatching.

Henry Thoresby is of Lincoln's Inn - his son is William Thoresby and William married Ann who was the daughter of Lord Scrope of Bolton.

The brass was repaired by their son Henry Thoresby.

The rubbing is missing an inscription that should be underneath it.
