Inscription: There are three separate sections of inscriptions all in Latin and on the chest of the figure.

The two lines at the top of the torso in Latin is:
Reposita est haec spes mea
in sinu meo Domine miserere

In English this translates to:
this my hope is laid up
in my bosom Lord have mercy

Below this there are two separate columns of inscriptions. The column on the left in Latin is:
Spiritus ad
Christum
qui sanguine
liberat ipsum

In English this translates to:
The spirit to
Christ
who with his blood
set it free.

The column on the right in Latin in:
Consors sit
sanctis
Lodouicus in
arce tonantis.

In English this translates to:
May Ludwig be/
partaker with the saints/
in the citadel/ of the thunderer (God).

Note: The two little columns are each a line of Latin poetry but they are separated into columns in the brass. The lines are from Job 19:27 and from The Service for the Dead.

Description of Rubbing: He is standing on a pillar with decorations, of leaves or feathers. He is facing forward with his left hand holding a long staff with a rounded end at the top. His right hand sits up by his face with his pinky and ring finger down and the other fingers and thumb up.

He has wavy hair down his back past his shoulders. He is wearing a detailed triangular hat. His robes have a detailed collar with decorations. There are tight sleeves under the robes. The robes are also detailed along the edges.

There are two lines of Latin, then two sections below with 4 lines each of Latin. Below the words there is a standing lion on the robes. Under the robes near his feet (that aren't shown) has fringe.
