Companion of the Order of Canada

Hogg was the first female president of several astronomical organizations and a notable woman of science at a time when many universities would not award scientific degrees to women.  In 1935 she came to Toronto to work at the Dunlap Observatory.  In addition to publishing over 200 scientific papers, Hogg helped to popularize astronomy with a weekly column in the Toronto Star that ran for 30 years.
