William Arthur Parks, 1868-1936
Parks, seen in the trench, started out as a geologist and then moved to paleontology. He was the first to collect entire dinosaur skeletons, not just individual bones, for the Royal Ontario Museum collection. His first complete skeleton, Gryposaurus, a genus of duckbilled dinosaur was added to the collection in 1918. Found in Red Deer Alberta, this unique specimen, including fragments of skin, has been on continuous display since 1920. Then thought to be 3,000,000 years old it is now thought to be over 65,000,000 years old.
