Robert Ramsey Wright, 1852-1933

First Professor of Biology

In 1874 Ramsey Wright became professor of natural history at the University of Toronto following completion of a BSc at Edinburgh.  In 1887 he was made first professor of biology at the University and was a leading figure in the re-establishment of the Faculty of Medicine.  Zoologist Ramsey Wright was known as a brilliant teacher.

The Ramsey Wright Building is named after him.
