Title
Description
"dear frieda," is an interactive Twine project that aims to document the relationship between Frieda Fraser and Edith Bickerton ("Bud") Williams through the cultural context of the period within which the letters were sent. In this game, step into the shoes of Frieda and Bud as you navigate their relationship through a series of interactive experiences. Combining some real-life correspondence between the two women as inspiration with fictional elements, the game immerses you in their personal and historical narratives, emphasizing the power of tangible records of queer lives. Explore the themes of love, community, and marginalization in a fun and engaging way, while gaining a deeper appreciation for the value of queer archives in shaping our understanding of LGBTQ+ history and experiences.
Inspired by course content content on critical fabulation, “dear frieda,” uses storytelling to reimagine the lives and experiences of Fraser and Bickerton. Through exploring the themes of love, community, and marginalization in the letters, the project aims to address the importance of preserving and making accessible the archives of queer individuals and communities. Additionally, "dear frieda" highlights the significance of the letters as historical artifacts, as well as their relevance to contemporary issues around LGBTQ+ rights, history, and representation. By encouraging users to reflect on the challenges faced by queer individuals in the past and present, the project aims to inspire a deeper appreciation for the value of queer archives in shaping our understanding of LGBTQ+ history and experiences.
