Title
Rubbing2024.8 - John Waybarne, and wives Edith and Agnes
Description
Knight and wives
Notes on the Parchment: "man in armor 1370 and 2 ladies 1510"
Description of Rubbing: The two ladies are almost identical on either side of the larger male in the middle. They are much smaller and one is on the left facing right and the other is on the right facing left. Both have her hands in prayer.
They have a long detailed dress with slight cross hatched shading, folds and pleats in the skirt and no feet are showing. The sleeves are tight to their arms with details around the wrist. There is a detailed belt that hangs down the front of the dress almost to the floor with tassels on the end. Their head covering is long past their shoulders and looks as if there is a lace or detailed trim that matches the belt.
He is almost double their size and is facing forward. His hands in prayer. Has typical knight armor on with a bascinet, camail, palettes, rerebraces, gauntlets, rowel spurs, vambraces, cuirass, baldric on the right, bainbergs and sollerts. The top of a latin inscription is slightly visible at the bottom.
