Notes on the Parchment: "Archdeacon Magnus Sessay 1550"
Description of Rubbing: He is standing and facing forward with his hand cupping a scroll (see inscription). He has hair to just below his ears. His long robes have a plush collar, and detailed embroidered edges. There are folds and pleats. His chest also has a morse (see inscription). His feet are shown with rounded shoes.
In 1504 he was Archdeacon of the East Riding and sacristan of the Chapel of Our Lady in York. He came to the attention of Henry VIII who made him Royal Chaplain and served mainly King in Scotland.
