William's mouth scroll (left): "Pater de ois deus miserare nobis" (Father of all, Lord, have mercy on us)
Marion's mouth scroll (right): "Scta trinitas un deu miserere nobis" (Holy Trinity, one God, have pity on us).
Notes on the Parchment: William Marcer & wife 1504 Highwm Ferrers
Description of Rubbing: This rubbing has 4 pieces.
The left is a male figure (William) who is facing forward with his hands praying. He has straight hair to his chin. His robes have large sleeves and are straight with some pleats. Rounded feet are shown at the bottom of the robes and vertical lines are in the background. He has his own mouth scroll to the right of him.
The figure to the right (Marion) is a female figure. She has a habit on with a gorget. The headdress goes past her shoulders. Her robes or dress have loose but not large sleeves. They hit the floor and have many pleats. Feet are visible and there are vertical lines at the bottom. She also has a mouth scroll hers is to her left.
All pieces have thick lines and little to no shading.
The rubbing is missing the six sons and six daughters as well as the arms of the Mercer's Company, symbols of the Evangelists, and a two-line inscription that is in English (Pray for the soull' of Thorpe Mercer and Marion his wyfe which Willm decessid the vth day of October the yere of oure lord M(t) V(c) iiij on whose soullys ihu have mercy)
