Clergymen of the Collection

The church had an impactful influence on Medieval society. When members of the clergy such as abbots, bishops, and priests were depicted within a monumental brass they were commemorated as such. Some were memorialized in their formal wear, and others held bibles, crosses and other iconography. They were symbols in the church when they were alive and after they had died.
