Scholars Portal, a shared service of the 21-member Ontario Council of University Libraries headquartered at the University of Toronto, originated at UTL in 2004 as an electronic journals service. Over the years, the projects undertaken by Scholars Portal librarians and staff have expanded considerably. The service now provides access to e-journals, e-books, social science data sets, geo reference data and geospatial sets. Scholars Portal also supports the online inter-library loan platform for Ontario’s universities, a virtual chat reference service and other tools for Ontario’s university students, faculty and researchers.
