31 October 1962: A Final Decision

On 31 October 1962, Ignatieff makes a statement to the Council that Canada agrees “in principle and for planning purposes” to the BERCON plans. Although he does state that there should be further discussion concerning parallel political contingency planning, no reservations or conditions are offered and there is no mention of nuclear weapons. The Council approves the BERCON plans.
