Knowledge Transfer Activities at the Faculty of Dentistry
Throughout its history, the University of Toronto's Faculty of Dentistry has been a devoted supporter of the international dental community. Its commitment to sharing expertise and best practices have not only enhanced the students' learning experiences here in Toronto, Canada but have also advanced dental science and oral health care globally. The faculty's excellence was recognized in 2021 with the esteemed William J. Gies Award from the ADEAGies Foundation, a testament to its significant international impact on dental education. In the award announcement, Dr. Marsha Pyle, President of the ADEAGies Foundation, stated: “Through their extraordinary contributions, our Gies Awardees are moving the needle forward in dental education and oral health... The Gies Awards honor future-ready initiatives that advance dental education and elevate the dental profession” (1).
With great pride, we want to highlight two specific examples that showcase the significant impact our faculty has had on the advancement of dentistry worldwide through its knowledge transfer activities: U of T Dentistry alumni influence on the dental profession in China, and the Toronto Addis Ababa Academic Collaboration.
