20 March 1954: Message from Canadian Ambassador to the United States

As the exact meaning of the New Look policy is being debated in the United States and abroad, Dulles continues to answer questions and offer clarifications. This message from the Canadian Ambassador to the United States remarks on the stir that Pearson’s March 15 remarks caused, as Dulles is forced to answer questions that reference the speech. Dulles states that Pearson did not intend to criticize the US policy and that “Canada and all the NATO allies had been made aware of the latest views of the United States Government.”
