28 November 1957: Scientific Consultation

This memorandum indicates that Canada was invited to take part in the tripartite scientific consultations on atomic energy in Washington. The author of the letter, J.W. Holmes, insists that it is imperative for this operation to be kept quiet as it would be “most embarrassing” if Canada’s participation in the project were known. This document appears to contradict the general position taken by Canadian officials which supports the acknowledgement and advertisement of Canadian contributions to American and British nuclear programmes.
