Materials used for Denture Bases

The other major component of dentures are dental plates, also called the “base”. The base forms the structure of the denture and acts the medium by which the teeth are attached and fit into the patient’s mouth. Like with artificial teeth, dentures plates were made from different materials depending on specific needs and/or availability. (8) (13) This final exhibition piece will explore vulcanite, metal, and celluloid dental bases. Additionally, the innovative and unique "continuous gum" method of crafting denture will be described as well.
