Contained within the pages of this small booklet are photographs and heartfelt messages compiled by James G. Endicott’s students upon his departure from West China Union University in May 1946. In this entry, Lincoln Ho (何林肯), a chemical engineering student at Nanjing University forced to relocate to Chengdu with the rest of his classmates after the Japanese occupation of Eastern China, affectionately refers to Jim as “Teacher Wen” (文老師). A member of the underground student organization “The Sparks,” Lincoln expresses his hope that his teacher will not forget him and his fellow students who are “longing for the light of the world.”
