From 1936 to 1939, James G. Endicott published The English Weekly for language students at Gin I Middle School (Chongqing No. 11). Painstakingly written by hand, the paper built upon the techniques and vocabulary used in the Direct Method English Course to introduce readers to a variety of short stories, poetry, and international affairs. It frequently criticized contemporary theories of race and racial hierarchy, civilization discourse and its notion of the “white man’s burden,” as well as the rise of fascism in Europe. At its height, the paper had a circulation of about 5,000 copies.    

从1936年到1939年，文幼章为精益中学（重庆第十一中学）的语言班学生创办并出版了《英语周报》。这份报刊手工精心编写，结合了“直接法英语课程”的技巧和词汇，通过生动的短篇故事、诗歌和国际时事，帮助学生学习英语并拓展视野。它批判性地探讨了当时流行的种族和种族等级理论、关于“文明”的讨论及其“白人负担”的观念，并公开谴责欧洲法西斯主义的抬头。在其鼎盛时期，报纸的发行量达到了约5000份。
