The Physics Building was designed by Darling and Pearson. Initial estimates by the architects priced construction at $160,000. In a letter (included below) to U of T President James Loudon, the architects emphasized the importance of good materials and building methods to avoid "degrading the character of its construction". The building was completed and opened its doors to students in 1907.
