Canadian Wrongs: The Japanese Internment and Deportations
Introduction
This section will look at the intersection between law and Canadian identity by examining Canada’s history and treatment of minority and immigrant groups, and of Japanese-Canadians in particular. It will aim to highlight the uses and abuses of law in regards to the internment and deportation of Japanese-Canadians, possible reasons behind such abuse, and what Canada has done to address these abuses. Ultimately, this section will serve as a platform for discussion on how law can shape, affect, and reflect Canadian identity.
